Site Structure
HTML is the fundamental language of web development. It is the language that creates the framework and layout of a website-and that's it. The skill of a good website developer comes essentially from his or her ability to speak this language fluently, and to view FrontPage, Dreamweaver, or other WYSIWYG editors as efficiency tools only. These developers code high-end website interfaces and structures with code alone...and by doing so are fully able to control the look and feel of a site to the extent that a scalpel is the preferred tool of a surgeon.
WHO---Individuals who have taken it upon themselves to acquire some training- in terms of months or years-in order to learn how to code the structure of a website properly. This skill alone can allow designers to create well structured and organized websites. However, in itself this skill is still not enough to secure employment into the web development industry. Individuals skilled at HTML may charge in the hundreds or thousands of dollars for a website, but one again, lacking in the final product would be the ability to create or even include good design or any kind of functionality. Remember, an email reply system is NOT functionality.
