Web Development Guidlines
WYSIWYG Development
This category of development is the bottom level and allows novice developers to build decent and low functional sites with products such as FrontPage and Dreamweaver being used as visual cut and paste tools ("what you see is what get."). They do not have to be highly skilled in any single area. Rather, FrontPage and Dreamweaver are highly automated and do not require a developer to understand the basic building blocks of web development to any degree of depth. Designers who employ these tools without going more deeply into pure coding or design approach can be compared to doctors performing surgery with handsaws. The ultimate results are often and usually awkward, non-scaleable (sites cannot be improved modified easily), and low in design and usability.
WHO---Those who are not trained web designers. Typically self-taught, non-affiliated, and low cost. Sites developed by those in this category typically range in the hundreds of dollars...and more often than not leave clients disappointed.
