Web Development Guidlines
Costs
Web development costs always provide cause for head scratching. Typically, web development for basic sites range from $2000.00 to $5000.00, and for sites containing CMS functionality, enhanced media services (audio or video) or interactivity the costs rage from $5000.00 to $20,000.00 and perhaps even higher. Why?
One important thing to remember in choosing to have a website built in this: website development is personalized software development. The technicians employed are highly specialized in graphic design, high end programming, animation and interactivity. Further, a client commissions them to produce something to meet the exact needs of his or her business-a task that also requires developers to have refined business, management, and communicative skills. The process is both time and skills intensive, and unfortunately goes far beyond what any non-developer can understand or is aware of. In web development, so many considerations tie together and ultimately depen technologies that are available...each with its own limitations. Most of what the Internet can be imagined to do is possible. However, the more complicated a desired web-based function (and common sense is generally a good indicator complexity), the more costly it becomes.
Web design is based on hourly development time. Costs for developers range widely, but at any specialized website development house the hourly rates rang from $40 to $120 dollars per hour. Costs also range depending on the technologies used, and the scarcity of competent developers within the required skills. IAM rates are listed in the attached rates sheet.
